迷語 - Maigo is a narrative short film exploring the emotional complexities of caregiving, language, and identity. The title, a fusion of 迷子 (lost child) and 語 (word), reflects the film’s central themes of disconnection and communication struggles between a mother and daughter.
After a stroke leaves her Japanese immigrant mother aphasic, a daughter returns home to care for her. As her mother slowly regains her native language, their ability to communicate fractures further, forcing them to confront their shifting dynamic and unspoken emotions in parent-child relationships.
